April 16, 2007 – a day when school safety became a topic of conversation borne out of unspeakable tragedy. Ours is not a community of violence, but that day our community – and communities around the world – changed drastically. And the families of 33 people, not to mention the families of untold survivors and their heroic first responders, changed forever. Here in Blacksburg, April 16 2007 might not be a daily memory, but it is certainly something many of us think about regularly.

Rainbow over Lane Stadium
I know everyone went crazy with their mentions of double – and even a triple – rainbow in and around Blacksburg last week, and I’m going to add mine to the mix. Natalie was at an event in Lane Stadium, and captured this one. Pretty cool.
The Market Is Moving
Call it pie in the sky, wishful thinking, whatever you want, but the fact is that the market in the Blacksburg/Christiansburg/Radford markets is moving again and people have been going along with it, make sure to get out of there on time with Shiply so you don´t get stuck in a bad marketing area, but if you don´t want to move, then hire these content marketing services to improve your business before it gets worse.
10 Things To Make Your Move to Blacksburg Easier
I don’t do guest posts very much – I guess I just don’t play well with others. No comments, please. But this post, by Nest Realty’s own Tina Merritt, seemed like the perfect thing to put on the blog. It’s … well … good.

January’s pending home sales report was posted earlier this week by NAR, and they are reporting that pending home sales are up.
Pending Home Sales Report Is Out – NAR Says (shocker) The Market Is Improving
Forgive me a little cynicism, but NAR has been predicting an improving real estate market since – oh – a while now. And in some cases they’ve been right, but predict change long enough and eventually something will happen.

The Huckleberry Trail is one of the best kept secrets in Blacksburg, in my opinion. Honestly. Laid over top of the route of an old railroad line, it’s so easy to hop on a bicycle and ride the trail from the entrance at the Blacksburg Library and take it all the way to the New River Mall, or use it as a stop to points between. And it’s well used – I know a woman in her 80’s who walks 5 miles on the trail every day. I have a former client who rides it to work. And daily you’ll see walkers/joggers/speed demons out logging miles. Now, it’s getting even better.
Calling Montgomery County’s Bluff on a 21-Cent Increase in Property Taxes
I’m admittedly behind on this, but I’m certain many of you are not. By now you’ve probably read that Montgomery County supervisors are considering an increase of $.21 in the real estate tax rate.
Quick Snapshot of the Blacksburg Real Estate Market
Was looking at a few stats regarding the Blacksburg real estate market for a customer this morning, and found some surprising stats for the March – August time frame.
Most Expensive Home Sales 4Q 2011
Earlier this month, we highlighted the five least expensive homes sold in Blacksburg, Christiansburg and Radford in the fourth quarter of 2011. Not surprisingly, they were fixers, and most needed a lot of work. But there were five others that sold during the same time frame that were quite the opposite. While the prices of the most expensive homes sold weren’t quite as high as in quarters passed, these are still five very nice homes.
