Once again, Blacksburg and the New River Valley have been named to a nationwide “best” list …
Last month, Forbes Magazine put out their “Best Small Places for Business and Careers“, and Blacksburg came in at #31 out of 179 rated throughout the country. Areas of measurement included the Cost of Doing Business, Projected Job Growth, and Educational Attainment. Other places in VA that were ranked were Charlottesville (#11), Winchester (#37) and Danville (#157). It should be noted, I think, that while Blacksburg is the area mentioned, the entire metro area of the Roanoke AND New River Valleys combined is the real winner.
Well, no offense to my WV readers, Brian, but I wanted to focus on the REAL Virginia. 🙂

You can see the benefit of have a major university from this list, most of the top 25 are “college towns”. I’m not surprised that as a VT fan you didn’t give kudos to Morgantown at #3……
