From Blacksburg Alerts:
Join the Town of Blacksburg for the Main Street Improvement Project Open House on Thursday, May 27 from 4-7 p.m. at the Blacksburg Community Center, 725 Patrick Henry Drive.
The Open House will be an opportunity for the community to meet with Town staff for an informal question and answer session and to review the project plans. Construction will begin this summer.
The Main Street Improvement Project will begin on the College Avenue Extension near the Cellar Restaurant and continue along Main Street to Prices Fork Road. The roadway in this area will be reduced from two lanes in each direction to one lane and include a roundabout at the intersection of North Main Street and Prices Fork Road.
Sidewalks in the area will also be widened to more than ten feet to allow for activities such as outdoor dining. Streetscape additions will mirror the existing downtown décor.
This project will have a major impact on downtown going forward, but it remains to be seen whether it’ll be positive or negative. If you live/work/play in Blacksburg, you need to stop by and learn more about the project; I’m going to go, and I’ll give a $5 gift card to Easy Chair Coffee Shop to the first person who stops me at the open house and says hi.
More on the project here, as well as on Mayor Rordam’s blog.
I'm not sure, but I'm going to try to be there during the first half
what time are you going?
